Password Generator
Create a random password with the length and character sets you need. Everything runs locally.
Most password generators ask you to trust the site that runs them. This one removes the question: the password is built by your browser's cryptographic random number generator and never leaves the page. There is no request to a server, no logging and no account.
Pick a length, choose which character classes to include, and copy the result. The strength meter updates as you change settings, so you can see what each option actually buys you rather than guessing.
How to use it
- Leave the default of 16 characters, or drag the slider to whatever the site accepts.
- Untick symbols only if the site rejects them — they add very little compared with extra length.
- Copy the password directly into a password manager.
How the randomness actually works
When you generate, the tool calls crypto.getRandomValues() — the same Web Crypto API browsers use for TLS. Math.random() would be wrong here: it is a predictable pseudo-random generator, seeded once per page, and its output can be reconstructed from a handful of samples.
Characters are selected with rejection sampling rather than a modulo operation. If you take a 32-bit value and reduce it modulo 88 (the size of the full character set), the first 24 characters would appear slightly more often than the rest, because 2^32 is not divisible by 88. Rejection sampling discards values outside the largest multiple of 88, so every character stays equally likely.
Reviewed 2026-10-21. This tool runs entirely in your browser — no server, no account, and nothing you generate is stored.
Frequently asked questions
Is this password generator safe to use?
The password is generated locally with the Web Crypto API and is never transmitted. The remaining risk is entirely on your device: if it is compromised by malware, no generator can protect you.
What length should I pick?
16 characters with all four classes gives about 103 bits, beyond any realistic offline attack. Go to 20+ for credentials you cannot rotate easily, such as disk encryption.
Why does the password change when I tick a box?
Every option changes the character set, so the tool regenerates immediately. That way what you see always matches the settings you chose.
Can I use this for my bank account?
Yes, as long as you store it in a password manager. A password you cannot memorise is only useful if something else remembers it for you.
