QR Code Reader Online
Upload, drag, or paste a screenshot — three ways to get the image in.
Camera access is requested only when you press the button. Frames are decoded on this device and discarded.
Three inputs, because the way an image reaches you varies: a file on disk, a drag from another window, or a screenshot already on your clipboard. The clipboard path is the fastest for screenshots and the one people rarely think to try.
All three end in the same decoder, so the result is identical regardless of how the image arrived.
How to use it
- Drag the image onto the page, or click to browse.
- Alternatively press Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on macOS) to paste a screenshot.
- Copy the decoded content.
The clipboard path is the one to remember
Screenshot, then paste, is two keystrokes and no file management. It works because the page listens for paste events and reads image data directly from the clipboard, which browsers allow without a permission prompt when triggered by a user action.
This is also the fastest way to scan a code on a phone when you already have it on screen but the camera refuses to lock on — screenshot, then paste.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paste an image directly?
Yes. Copy a screenshot and press Ctrl+V inside the page. The paste handler accepts image data from the clipboard.
Which formats are supported?
PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF and BMP. Anything the browser can decode into a bitmap will work.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit — large images are downscaled before decoding, so a 20MB photo is fine. It just takes longer to read from disk.
