A maker, a creator and a generator are the same thing described by different people. The useful difference between the tools that use those words is how many decisions they make for you: this one opens with a usable password already on screen.

The default here is 14 characters rather than 16, because people who search for 'maker' tend to be signing up for consumer services, and a number of those still cap input at 16 or below.

How to use it

  1. Use the password that is already on screen, or press generate for another.
  2. Adjust length only if the site complains.
  3. Copy and paste — do not retype it from the screen.

Maker, creator, generator: what changes

Nothing in the maths. What changes between these tools is the default posture: a 'maker' usually pre-fills settings and asks you to press one button, while a 'generator' tends to expose the character-set controls first.

If you are making a password for a specific site, the only two facts you need are that site's maximum length and whether it accepts symbols. Set those two, ignore the rest, and use the longest length allowed.

Reviewed 2026-10-21. This tool runs entirely in your browser — no server, no account, and nothing you generate is stored.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a password maker and a password generator?

None functionally — both produce a random string. The wording difference is marketing. Judge them by whether the randomness is cryptographic and whether the result is kept local.

Should I let the site save my password?

No. Use a password manager. Browser-saved passwords are convenient but tied to one browser profile and often unencrypted at rest.

Can I make several passwords at once?

Yes — the batch option generates up to 100 at a time if you need to seed a list of test accounts.
