Number Generator
Same engine as the random number generator, with the bounds front and centre.
This is the plain-number entry point: pick a low and a high, get a value between them. The default range of 1-20 suits the most common requests — dice-like picks and small draws.
If you are generating a list, the count field takes up to 100 and the no-repeats switch turns it into a proper sample rather than repeated independent draws.
How to use it
- Set your bounds.
- Generate once, or set a count for a batch.
- Use no-repeats if the same number twice would be wrong.
Integers, decimals and what 'between' means
By default the result is an integer and both bounds are included, so 1-20 can return 1 and can return 20. That is the interpretation almost everyone means, and it is not universal across tools.
Decimals switch the output to a fixed number of places. The generator works in scaled integers internally — two decimal places means drawing from 100×min to 100×max and dividing — so 0.1 and 0.2 cannot drift into 0.30000000000000004.

Frequently asked questions
Does 'between 1 and 20' include 1 and 20?
Here, yes. Some maths contexts treat 'between' as exclusive, which is why this page states the inclusive behaviour explicitly.
Can I generate negative numbers?
Yes. Enter a negative minimum, for example -50 to 50. The range size is computed the same way.
Why is my batch of numbers not perfectly even?
Because it is a random sample. Twenty draws from ten values will not give exactly two of each; that would require a shuffle, not independent sampling.
