Wheel Picker
A spinning wheel for names and options, with a result you can show to a room.
The wheel exists for one reason: people do not trust a number they cannot see being chosen. A visible spin makes the draw feel legitimate, which matters when you are picking in front of an audience.
Underneath, the selection is the same uniform sampling as everywhere else on this site — the animation is presentation, not the source of randomness. The winner is decided before the wheel starts turning, so a slow spin cannot change the outcome.
How to use it
- Enter your options, one per line.
- Press spin.
- The result is also shown as text below the wheel, so it can be copied.
Why the winner is chosen before the spin
Deciding the outcome up front and animating towards it is the only way to keep the spin length arbitrary without leaking information. If the wheel decelerated to a random stopping point, the landing position would depend on physics timing rather than the random source — harder to reason about and easier to bias.
The visual weighting follows the item count, so a six-option wheel has six equal segments. With more than about twelve options the labels get tight; past twenty, the wheel is the wrong tool and the random picker is faster.

Frequently asked questions
Is the spin itself random?
The winner is drawn uniformly before the animation starts. The spin is cosmetic — it always lands on the already-chosen item.
Can I remove a winner after each spin?
Yes, there is an option to drop the winner from the wheel, which turns it into a sequential draw for multiple prizes.
How many options can I add?
Up to about twenty before the wheel becomes unreadable. For larger lists use the random picker page.
