Random here means one specific thing: each character is drawn independently and uniformly from the selected set, using the operating system's entropy pool rather than a seeded formula. Two generations in a row have no relationship to each other.

That matters because most weak passwords are not weak in their characters — they are weak in their pattern. A generator that quietly avoids repeats, or that always puts a digit at the end, is producing something that looks random but is not.

How to use it

  1. Choose the character classes you need.
  2. Set the length — longer beats more exotic.
  3. Generate again if you want a different result; there is no history kept.

What makes a result genuinely random

Three properties are checked here. Independence: each character is drawn from a fresh random value, so knowing one character tells you nothing about the next. Uniformity: rejection sampling prevents some characters from being slightly more likely. Unpredictability: the source is the OS entropy pool, not a timestamp or a counter.

What the tool deliberately does not do is filter results that look 'ugly'. Refusing to output a password with two identical adjacent characters would shrink the real search space and make the output easier to guess. Every valid string in the character set is fair game, including the ones that look odd.

Frequently asked questions

Is a random password the same as a strong password?

Not automatically. Randomness keeps the password unpredictable, but strength also depends on length. A 6-character random password is still trivially broken.

Can two generated passwords be identical?

Theoretically yes, with probability 1 in 88^16. In practice you will never see it, and the tool does not try to prevent it — filtering would bias the output.

Does regenerating weaken the password?

No. Each result is independent. Discarding a result you do not like does not leak anything about the one you keep, because they are drawn from separate random values.
