Random Chooser

For when the decision is small enough to delegate.

Options
—

This is the two-or-three-option case: what to eat, which film, whether to go. The value is not the randomness, it is removing the deliberation from a decision that does not deserve it.

Type the options, press choose, accept the answer. If you immediately want to re-roll, that is usually a signal about which option you actually preferred — worth noticing.

How to use it

  1. Enter two to five options.
  2. Press choose.
  3. Accept the result, or notice that you wanted to re-roll and pick that one instead.

A tool for decisions, not for fairness

The odds here are equal by design. If the options are not equally attractive — a cheap option and an expensive one — equal odds are the wrong model, and the result should be a starting point rather than a verdict.

For a decision with real consequences, the useful pattern is to assign rough weights first, then use the picker with repetition to see which option dominates. That surfaces your actual preference rather than hiding it behind a coin toss.

Frequently asked questions

Can I add more than two options?

Yes, as many as you like, one per line. Equal odds apply to all of them.

Why do I want to re-roll when I get the answer?

Because the result made your preference visible. That is a legitimate use of the tool — the answer told you what you did not want.

Does this work for group decisions?

It can, if everyone accepts the method beforehand. Announcing the method after seeing the options is what makes a random decision feel arbitrary.
