3-Digit Random Number
A random number with exactly 3 digits — 100 to 999.
"3-digit" and "100-999" are not the same request. A 3-digit number always starts with a non-zero digit, so it is exactly three characters when written, which is why this page starts at 100 rather than zero.
Common uses: short verification codes, three-digit locks and display counters. The distinction matters when the output has to be exactly 3 characters — for example when it becomes an ID or a code.
How to use it
- Generate — the range is fixed to 100-999.
- Set a count if you need a batch of codes.
- Copy as a block; each value is on its own line.
Exactly 3 digits, not "3 characters"
A 3-digit number runs from 100 to 999 — 900 possible values. Numbers below 100 are shorter when written, which is why they are excluded here.
If you need padded output such as 00042, that is a fixed-width string, not a number. Use the random alphanumeric generator with the digits-only setting and a length of 3 instead.

Frequently asked questions
Why not include 000-099?
Because those are not three-digit numbers in the usual sense — they start with a zero. If you need exactly three characters including leading zeros, use the alphanumeric generator with digits only.
How many possible 3-digit numbers are there?
900. That is 9 × 10^2, which is why adding one digit multiplies the space by ten.
Are the digits independent of each other?
The number is drawn uniformly from the whole range, so yes in effect — but it is not built digit by digit, which means values like 1111 are just as likely as 7392.
