Dice Roller
Roll one or several dice, with the total. d4 through d100.
A dice roller is not the same as a random number in a range. Two d6 rolls produce a total from 2 to 12, but the totals are not equally likely: 7 comes up six times as often as 2, because there are six ways to make it. That triangular distribution is the whole point of rolling several dice.
Set the number of dice and the number of sides. Each die is drawn independently, which is what makes the totals distribute the way real dice do.
How to use it
- Pick the number of dice and sides.
- Roll — individual results and the total are both shown.
- Use the history line to see the last few rolls if you need a record.
Why 2d6 is not a random number from 2 to 12
Summing independent dice produces a bell-shaped distribution. With two six-sided dice there is one way to roll 2 and six ways to roll 7, so 7 is six times more likely. A uniform random number from 2 to 12 would make a 2 as likely as a 7, which is wrong for any game that uses dice.
The range tools on this site are uniform by design; this page is the one place where the distribution is deliberately not uniform, because that is what a dice roll means.

Frequently asked questions
Can I roll a d20 with advantage?
Roll two d20 and take the higher result — that is the standard rule. This page shows both individual results, so you can apply the rule yourself; it does not automate game systems.
Are the rolls independent?
Yes. Each die is drawn from a fresh random value, so a previous high roll does not make a low one more likely.
Which dice are supported?
d4, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d100 and any side count you type in, up to 1000.
